Be sure to ask Silas about this Daley Mandolin and photo of Sam Bush while it was being built. This was on loan to him at the Battlefield Bluegrass Festival by Kentucky Colonial Nigel Cantor!
As we wind down the festival season, there is just a little more time in the calendar to check in on the website and include some updates!
We developed a 100 year tribute to the late Earl Scruggs and performed it on his 100th birthday Jan 6, 2024, Jan 20, 2024, and in June at the Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival. Thanks to Clyde Proch for narrating the script as we performed a timeline of Earl's musical bluegrass contributions.
At SPBMA, Nashville, TN, in late January, we co-hosted a showcase with Rock Hearts, The Gravel Yard, and the Sullivan Sisters.
We recorded our first project at South Shore Recording Studio & Labs in South Kingston, RI this past Spring. It is currently being mixed by Billy Thibodeau. Hopefully to be released early this Fall.
We had dobro player, Roger Williams, guest with us twice this past spring when the venus wanted a five-piece. Man, that's a good sound!!
We've been able to do more shows this year with SIlas Powell, from West Virginia, including both shows at Lily P's in Cambridge (Jan, July), Earl Scruggs Birthday (Jan 5th, 2024), WWUH Radio live broadcasts (Jan, April), the recording project, plus Naseby, UK.
We played our first International festival, the Battlefield Bluegrass Festival in Naseby, England, UK! Incredible experience that deserves it's own post.
We also had a busy schedule with other independent ventures, Cathy was a band coach at Ozark Mountain Music Youth Camp for a week in Branson, MO, both Cathy and Keegan were "JAMbassadors" at the Ashokan weeklong bluegrass camp in the Catskills of New York, and for fun the band attended the Podunk Bluegrass this year, as it is the hometown festival.
